pippa's 5th birthday
Happy fifth birthday, Pippa! It's hard to believe that it's been five years since we first met you. You were my first baby, and I have such sweet memories of those first days after you came home from the hospital. We had nothing to do during those lazy summer days except nurse and watch Netflix and go for long walks. Pips, you and I share a bond that can never be broken.
And now you're about to spread your wings and leave the nest. In fall you'll be going to full-day kindergarten. A small part of me wants to cry because I can't imagine my days at home without you. A bigger part of me is bursting with pride because I know you're such a ray of sunshine that I must share with the rest of the world.
You're smart, kind, friendly, and beautiful from the inside out. Before I became a mom, I imagined rocking babies and changing diapers and going to the park. But every day I'm surprised and delighted by the thoughtful conversations we have, your curious questions, your enthusiasm for the people and things you love most, and the inside jokes and private moments we share. I could never have imagined how amazing those part of motherhood would be.
I also love watching you take a leadership role with your brothers. Sure, you and Teddy sometimes fight as siblings do. And sure, sometimes those fights end in violence. But overall, you watch out for your little brothers and make sure they're taken care of and following the rules. You snuggle your "Little Louie" like no one's business and you teach Teddy how to use his imagination to play pretend.
But most importantly, I see your faith and love for Jesus growing stronger each day. Your heart for the Lord inspires me to draw closer to him, too. You're letting your light shine every day, sweet Pippa. I'm so proud of you for that.
We love you so much, and we can't wait to see what this year brings! You're going to crush it, Kindergartener!
