hi from "vacation"
Well, it's been awfully quiet on the blog front, and for good reason! We've been on vacation visiting family for the last week and a half. Of course, vacation with children is not really a vacation, is it? We're doing all the same parenting, just in a place without all the comforts and familiarity of being at home!
I'm going to be writing a post with my favorite tips for road tripping with kids, but in the mean time I'll just say this: no matter how organized you are when you pack, no matter how "minimalist" you try to be, you will still feel like you're simply taking everything from your home, and cramming it into your minivan when you're traveling with young kids. Diapers, wipes, stuffed animals, blankets, multiple outfit changes for inevitable spills and blowouts, pack n plays, strollers, baby carriers, food, water bottles, and books & toys for the trip. By the time we were ready to pull out of the driveway, I was positive we could live our of our van if it came down to that.
Anyway, I've been unintentionally unplugged for the most part, since we have had a packed schedule. When we're not out and about on family adventures, we're enjoying coffee or a glass of wine with our parents and siblings. Living away from family is tough, so we make time for two weeks out of each summer to connect and spend lots of quality time with both sides of the family. I think my favorite part of this trip so far has been finishing an entire mug of coffee while it was still hot, and finishing 2 novels in the span of 4 days. LUXURY, people. Absolute luxury.
Keep your eyes peeled for a full vacation update complete with a video, thousands of pictures, and a recap. Until then, here are a few of my favorite snapshots so far from our trip.
