Four Seasons Hotel Chicago: Family-Friendly Luxury in the Windy City
Are you planning a family getaway to Chicago? Make sure to check out the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago for your stay!
In my early 20s I had no problem bunking in hostels and sleeping on airport floors. Nowadays, though, I’m in my early 30s with 4 kids, and I have to admit that comfort trumps everything when I’m looking for a hotel.
Visiting a city as vibrant and exciting as Chicago means we’re out exploring all day long. But if you’ve ever tried to keep a toddler happy while you gaze at a museum exhibit or encouraged 4 little kids to walk more than a block or two in the heat, you know that everyone is exhausted and crabby by the time you get back to your hotel.
That’s why you must check out the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. It was such a pleasure to arrive in our room at the end of the day and sink into the most comfortable beds on earth.
Not to mention the service you receive from the members of the Four Seasons team is next level! They greeted our children and made them feel welcome, which was such a refreshing change of pace.
Here’s why I think the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago should be your first choice on your next visit to the Windy City.

Things to Love About the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago with Kids
Children’s Welcome Amenities at Check-In
Our stay started off on the right foot when the kids received a welcome gift right away at check in. The boys were beyond thrilled to find a Hot Wheels car in their bags, along with a coloring book full of activities related to Chicago.
In fact, when I mentioned that we were going to visit the Bean (the Cloud Gate sculpture), my 8-year-old daughter, Pippa, exclaimed that she had read about it in her activity book!
As a parent, it’s the most amazing feeling to know your kids are welcome and not looked upon as a nuisance.
Cozy Robes
As with every Four Seasons property, you’ll find the signature cozy robes for every member of the family waiting for you in your room. I love the child-size robes for snuggling up after a swim or enjoying a leisurely breakfast with a view.
And you better believe I made my kids pose for lots of fun pictures in those robes before we left!
Incredible Views
You have the option for either a city view or a lake view room, but you really can’t go wrong with either one. The grand windows allow you to take in the panoramic skyline, and there’s a lovely little window seat where you can perch yourself or your kids while you sip your morning coffee.
Room Service
If you’re anything like us, you avoid dining out with your kids after long travel days. There is certainly a time and a place to take kids out to eat and train them in the art of fine dining, but after a long stretch in the car and exploring in the hot sun is not one of those times.
Thankfully the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago offers 24/7 room service so you can grab a bite to eat in the comfort of your own room whenever it’s convenient for you.
And don’t worry - for those with picky eaters, there is a nice children’s menu with familiar comfort foods they will love.
Pool Time
You certainly can’t stay at a hotel without going for a swim! Thankfully, the pool here is absolutely stunning and there’s plenty of space for kids to splash around.
To make it even more enticing for your little ones, there’s a chest full of pool noodles and toys for kids to use while they’re visiting the pool. Mine couldn’t get enough of the mermaid flippers and spent our entire time at the pool putting them on and practicing with them.
There’s also a hot tub for the adults to enjoy, and plenty of lounge chairs around the pool where you can relax while keeping an eye on your kids.
Shop Michigan Ave
Thanks to the central location of the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, you have lots of options for activities within walking distance, including hitting the shops along Michigan Ave. I group up just over an hour from Chicago, meaning we drove down for a day of shopping every December as a family. it never gets old (even as someone who doesn’t necessarily like to shop), as there are so many wonderful options for everyone in the family.
Don’t forget the American Girl Store is right across the street from the hotel so you can easily pop in for some new outfits or accessories! My daughter was so excited about this!
Ice Cream Delivery
I’m so mad that we ran out of time, because we could have made use of the on-demand ice cream man at Four Seasons Chicago! That’s right! All you have to do is call in-room dining and request a visit from the ice cream man.
This may or may not be the sole reason I need to go back and stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago a second time. You can't stay there and NOT try their personalized ice cream service. That was en epic fail on my part as a parent. We’ll do better next time.
Four Seasons Hotel Chicago Rooms
We are so grateful to Four Seasons Hotel Chicago for upgrading us to a Premiere Suite during our one-night stay.
Upon entry to the room you’ll be greeted with an elegant entryway complete with artwork and chic wallpaper. Sometimes traveling with little kids isn’t the most elegant, so we loved the extra space for storing the stroller and lining up our shoes neatly.
The main bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed and gorgeous desk that stretches along the entire wall opposite the bed. Wake up to the panoramic view of the Chicago skyline or Lake Michigan through the large windows. The full marble bathroom is just steps away from your room, featuring Natura Bisse bath products and the signature Four Seasons robes.
Just across from the full bathroom was a sizable cove with a cozy bench and a closet. We found it to be the perfect spot for our 1-year-old’s crib! Speaking of the crib, I’ll forever remember Four Seasons Hotel Chicago as one of the most family-friendly hotels I’ve stayed at thanks to the welcome amenity included for families with babies and toddlers - a small bag of extra diapers, wipes, and baby bath products. This was a lifesaver for us since we didn’t have a chance to unload everything from the car when we first entered the room!
Beatrice, our 1-year-old, slept perfectly in the beautiful crib the Four Seasons provided. Such a nice change of pace from the usual pack-n-plays you find in hotels.
If you go back through the entryway you’ll find the expansive living room area with a sectional sofa and a giant flat screen tv. The sofa pulls out into a bed, where our 3 older kids loved snuggling up at the end of a long day to watch a movie.
We really appreciated the teepee set up just for the kids awaiting us in the corner of the living room! The kids made a beeline for it, bringing their new toys from check-in to play. The entire living room had an amazing skyline view, and all of us found ourselves perching on the window seat to take in the skyscrapers and busy city life below.
There was a second smaller bathroom that included a shower which the kids used, and a bar area with a Nespresso machine and a sink, which was a perfect area to prepare food and snacks for the kids. The room does include a mini fridge, which is perfect if you’ve got babies and toddlers and need to travel with milk or
