friday favorites #21
Happy Friday! We've had such a rainy week here in Florida, but we really needed it! Unfortunately that means the kids and I have been cooped up inside quite a bit, but we're managing. Lots of movies, puzzles, books, and trips to the library made it bearable, and I'm thinking Friday warrants a trip to Dunkin' for an iced coffee!
We have nothing on the books for this weekend, so I'm looking forward to some low key time with the family and some quiet blog writing time. Hope you all have some fun and/or relaxing plans!
So grab a cup of coffee, ignore your kids for five minutes, and check out what I'm loving this week! I would love to hear what's making you smile this week in the comments, too!
FRIDAY FAVORITES
[one] baby sleep
I don't want to jinx it, but Lewis has been sleeping like a champ! One night this week he even gave us a six hour stretch! I woke up with a start, wondering why I felt so well-rested. The extra sleep has been amazing, but it doesn't come without a price. Lewis has been cluster feeding like crazy in the evenings, so I definitely haven't been as productive as I'd like to be, but at this point, I'll take the sleep over getting work done!
[two] postpartum exercise
I just hit the six week postpartum mark this Wednesday, and since my recovery has been going so well, I thought I would start incorporating some gentle abdominal exercises into my routine. I have diastasis recti, and found some great resources online to help strengthen my core without doing further damage, like glute bridges, heel slides, and pelvic tilts. I won't have my check up for another few days, so I'm making sure to ease into it, and listen to my body in the meantime. I've been going for two mile walks with the double stroller, the baby in my LIILEbaby carrier, and the dog's leash hanging over the handle of the stroller. I feel like a spectacle, but it's so nice to get out in the fresh air and listen to podcasts.
[three] my four-year-old!
Pippa just celebrated her fourth birthday a few days ago, and she's already showing her maturity! She had ripped up a styrofoam cup and left the pieces all over the kitchen table and floor. I walked past the mess while holding the baby, and made a mental note to clean it up after putting him down for a nap. I came out of my room to find Pippa sweeping up the mess (without being asked) with a broom that was twice her size. It was so adorable I had to sneak a picture!
[four] j. crew boardwalk pull-on shorts
I'm in the postpartum phase where maternity clothes are too baggy, and my regular clothes don't fit yet, so I made use of the Memorial Day sales and ordered a few pairs of stretchy waistband shorts from J. Crew. The boardwalk pull-on shorts (affiliate link) are the most comfortable things I've ever worn, but actually make my outfit look put-together. They're on major sale right now, so definitely check them out! I went for the 3 inch inseam, but if you prefer your shorts a bit longer there is a 5 inch inseam option, too. So many colors! I sized up, since I'm postpartum, but turns out I could have gone with my regular size, so I'm guessing they run a bit big? No worries, though. They look fine with the waistband folded over, too.
[five] DockATot
I just received my DockATot in the mail, and so far we've been loving it! I love setting my little buddy down in his dock while I work, and we bring it from room to room so he's always got his own spot to hang out. I'm looking forward to bringing the DockATot with us on vacation and getting tons of use out of it while we're on the road. I'll definitely be writing up a post about it, so look for that in the next few weeks! Use my affiliate link here, and it will get you $10 off all Docks!
That's it for this Friday! What's got you smiling this week? Have a wonderful weekend!
