dressing your third baby
As we prepared to welcome our third child into the world, I kept thinking back to how different it was from welcoming our firstborn. My sweet family threw me the most wonderful baby shower, and since we knew we were having a girl, we received piles of adorable dresses, onesies, and bows for our little one. In fact, she got so many clothes that we didn't have to buy a single thing for almost the entire first year of her life. It was amazing, and she had something new to wear every day.
Our second child was a boy, so he, too, got his fair share of new clothes. Some were gifts - the ladies from my church threw a delightful baby "sprinkle", and others were cute sale finds we had purchased ahead of time.
We knew baby #3 would want for nothing, no matter what the gender. When we found out he was a boy, all we needed to do was bring the baby boy clothes out of storage and freshen it up in the wash. He didn't need a single thing, since he had plenty of hand-me-downs from his big brother. I knew Lewis would be living his whole life in his big brother's clothes, so I decided he needed something special of his own.
I found exactly what I was looking for with Finn + Emma. It's an online shop dedicated to creating sustainable clothing for kids with fresh prints and fun styles. They only use 100% organic cotton and eco friendly dyes in their clothes, which is a huge draw for me! The more I learn about how toxic our environment is, and how many chemicals are in everything from the lotion we use on our babies to the clothes we put on them, the more motivated I am to make our own personal care products and support companies like Finn + Emma. Not only is the clothing they make healthy and safe for our kids, but they are only made in fair trade settings that focus on supporting the local people! That's a win in my book!
I loved dressing Lewis in his brand new romper and pajamas from Finn + Emma, because he not only looks adorable in his new clothes, but they're incredibly soft, and perfect for snuggling! The fresh designs on the clothes were my favorite; I chose the giraffe design for his romper and bandana bib, and the arrows design for his pajamas. Most of the designs are unisex, so Finn + Emma onesies, rompers, and pajamas would make perfect baby shower gifts for parents who aren't finding out the gender of their baby, or for parents who want to make their baby clothes last for future children.
Hand-me-downs and gently used clothes are so wonderful because they help prevent waste, and save families tons of money over the years. But sometimes a third child needs some special clothes to call his own. Finn + Emma clothes have become just that for baby Lewis.
